World Heritage view on the Salzberg
The platform allows a view of Obertraun, Lake Hallstatt and Hallstatt itself at a dizzying height.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site Hallstatt awaits you
Hallstatt ranks at the top of one of the most-visited and certainly also most-photographed places in the world. The rumor mill is churning out whether the place has not been used as a template for the Frozen II village of Arendelle. In any case, a stay in Hallstatt is unique. Culture, tradition, history and summer and winter activities await you in the small town, nestled between Salzberg and Lake Hallstatt.
7000 years of history
The history of Hallstatt goes back to the Neolithic Age (approx. 5500 BC). It all began with salt mining, which is still carried out today in the oldest salt mine in the world. This can be easily reached with the Salzbergbahn cable car directly from Hallstatt, or on foot (approx. 1 hour hike). On the Salzberg, you can then dare to climb the dizzying platform, the World Heritage View, which offers a unique view of Hallstatt, Lake Hallstatt and Obertraun.
You can also follow in the footsteps of history when you stroll through Hallstatt. Ideally with an Austria Guide Tour (also free tours in summer!). Here you can find out everything about Hallstatt, official and also unofficial stories ;-).
Of course, it is important to stop at the famous Hallstatt photo point. You collect quite a few Instagram likes for your profile.
What you have to see and where everything is located is written down in the village map of Hallstatt.
Active in and around Hallstatt
Numerous hikes and bike tours as well as fun on and in the water await you in Hallstatt in summer. In winter, the proximity of various ski areas such as the Freeride Mecca Dachstein Krippenstein, the family ski area Dachstein West or the Loser ski area is convincing – all of which can be reached within 20 minutes. Ski tours, snowshoe hikes, winter hikes – everything is possible.
